Washing the Paint from the Stars

In this day and age it is not uncommon for girls as young as 10 and 11 years old to begin experimenting with makeup. They run to their mothers bathrooms and dawn copious amounts of eyeliner, clot  eyelashes with mascara, and smear on the most atrociously vibrant shade of lipstick they can find. Why is it though, that these girls have the urge to play with makeup? Well, perhaps they are attempting to emulate celebrities. It is absolutely necessary to maintain a certain image when in the spotlight, and makeup helps keep up this illusion. Eventually, we become used to this person as we have seen them. Well polished, perfect hair, white teeth, and flawless skin. Let us now, for a moment, take some time to appreciate the natural beauty of these lucky few who have been able to hold our attention long enough to be called a "star".

  1. It's sad that small girls feel like they need to wear makeup to feel like they belong or feel "cool." My mom recently showed me a picture of her friend's daughter, who wore enough makeup that she looked like she was in her late teens. It turns out she had just turned ten. I hope that the world will wake up and realize that you don't need makeup to look, feel or be pretty.

  3. I think that makeup is not necessary because your beautiful the way you are. It's alright to use makeup if your going to a party, show, celebration, wedding, etc. If you use a lot of makeup it's bad your your skin. It also itches a lot.

  4. I have to agree with all of you guys. Make up is unnecessary to look pretty. Wearing make up everyday will just ruin your skin, so you will look like a zombie without it. My cousin is an example. She wears make everyday. She even wears it to school! As a result, she won't go anywhere without it because she knows she looks terrible. And supporting what lily said, she does look a lot older.
