Metropolis II by Chris Burden

Hey everybody!!!

I've only got a moment because Ramona is sleeping soundly next to me, and who knows when she could wake up . . . but I couldn't not share this with you guys. Here is a brief video on a sculpture at the Los Angeles Country Museum of art. It's by an artist named Chris Burden and it's super cool. Take a look and read this article.

I miss you all! See you in a month or so!

  1. This is truly AMAZING!!! This guy has been building this whole city for 4 years, which makes it absolutely insuperable. What surprises me, though, is the fact that he wasn't done when this video started showing. There is also a great amount of cars, trains, buses, etc. I would really like to see this whole WORLD in real life.

  2. It is really amazing... I guess this is or was almost every kid's dream to build a city like that... well... at least it was mine. I always wanted to create my own world at some where... And I still want to build some kind of city at my house, which I can't. Building my own city (model) is a part of my bucket list...

  3. Wow! This guy is a really cool artist! What he did is incredible! He must have a lot of patience to do something like this. If it takes so long, I would probably drop it. But I guess that's why this is his passion.

  5. The sculpture and the significance of the sculpture were both really astonishing. Since the beginning of the video I felt inspired, I don't know why by I did. I've never seen a sculpture like this and I have never hear of Chris Burden, until today.

  6. I agree with Hanuel, when I was young, I also wanted to create my own city so I often played an online game that I had to build a city, farm, or an ocean city. However, I had never finished the game because I was lack of patient. But his small but enormous city that he created on his own, is so impressive!

    1. Ji Ye, I used to draw really elaborate plans for treehouses. Some had sharks tanks. All of them had underground caverns and computer panels.

    2. Michael, you should post some of those plans if you still have them.
