History, Kid Style

Every once in awhile Josh and me need another funny YouTube video to obsessively quote to each other. One day, Josh showed me "Kid History." This is episode four, probably my favorite, but if you feel like killing time watch all five.

I seriously was gasping for breath, rolling on the floor as I watched those kids. Every day I walk around quoting Kid History to my family. Sometimes I'll remember the jokes and randomly start laughing out loud. Today I was pondering my obsession with Kid History. Why do I find it so stomach-cluchingly funny?

I guess it is because I have little brothers and sisters, and I grew up hearing the little nuances of how they pronounce words. I have this bad habit of copying them; recently I've been talking like David, saying things like "hey, yooooouuu, yoooouuu is doing sumbing?" or "HEY! you is berry stinky!" or "ine so berry much in lub wiz you."

Then I wondered, would Kid History be funny to me if I didn't have little brothers and sisters? On a deeper level, are different things funny to different people based on past life experiences? Why is Kid History hilarious/not hilarious to you, personally?

  1. Definitely! The reason why people look at SOME things and label them as "funny" is because they make a connection between these two entities. Life experience and the joke. Once they hear it, it resonates in their minds and they remember, "oh, that is soo true! I have gone through that also." Remember when German and and I were laughing today in literature class? it was because we both shared similar life experiences interrogating our mothers! We went through the same conflict, finding difficulty in trying to extract details from their past life events. We both shared this connection, hence, why it seemed funny to us at that time.

  2. Yes, Kid History is still funny even if you do not have younger brothers. I would say that if a person has an experience similar to what they are watching, hearing, reading, etc..., they are going to remember that experience and asimilate it with what they are watching,etc... Remembering that experience, would make them recall what they felt at that time and even see a different point of view from the same experience.

  3. Even though Kid History is extremely funny, even if you don't think of your little brothers, what makes it funnier, for me, is to think of my younger siblings, because they "talked" liked this when they still couldn't articulate everything they wanted to say. Another thing that makes Kid History funny is to see how grown men are speaking like little kids, and doing things only little kids would do.

  4. Kid history made me laugh forever. I think it is hilarious how they just take little kids stories and turn them into these. I love the part that says, "She's a mermaid. I think she's pretty."

  5. Is it only me that feels this video is extremely boring..? I actually don't understand what is going on. I just think that these men are weird. haha but it's just my opinion.

  6. I do think that it is more funny when you have younger siblings, because they think of it differently, and they tell you how, which makes you laugh even harder. Also I thought it was hilarious because that is how car rides do become sometimes, it happens a lot in my family, but the only difference is that we do go back, and we blame each other instead of kicking each other out of the car.

  8. I have always wanted to try doing what they did. Little kids are naturally funny but if you put their voice in grown ups who don't act like little kids, it becomes twice as funny.

  10. There's a guy named Ethan who illustrates stories that his five-year-old brother Malachi writes. It's called Axe-Cop, and it's about a police officer who uses and axe and his partner Dinosaur Soldier. They save the world from robots and giant avocados and . . . never mind, just read it yourself.

  13. This video made me feel weird. Imagine all the adults in the world talking and acting like little girls. I don't want to meet a guy that acts and talks like a little girl because it will make me feel uncomfortable. Its weird because we have a big, huge adults talking and acting like a 5 year old. People if you introduce me to someone like that you guys are going to regret it.

  14. I agree with David, it definitely is weird! But it is SUPER hilarious!!! This reminds me of my little cousins whose conversations are like that, and they fight about everything. I cracked up watching this video, but it also makes you realize how innocent little kids can be.

  15. Lily, that's crazy awesome!

I read a few webpages of Axe Cop Mr. Ab! I'm really glad that Unibaby found a home :)

One of my favorite quotes is "URRRR! I'm going to go over and punch you like I always keep doing!" I remember saying that to Josh a few years back, haha.

But the one that takes the cake is when the Dad says, "hey, you guys, bee-have! I had a ss-ss-tressful day."

  16. I still laugh every time I watch kid history. I especially love it when they say, "She's a mermaid. Girls are mermaids and some boys are too." It makes me laugh every single time. Life should be as fun as it is in kid history. :)

  18. David, I agree that it is weird, but I still enjoyed watching it, and didn't think it was as messed up as you're making it sound. Also, I think that the makers of Kid History have LOTS of free time on their hands...

  19. I don't have younger siblings and I think it is hilarious!! Probably because I have nieces and nephews. They seriously make life better.
