The first person to get the iPhone 6 drops it on live TV

Australian Jack Cooksey was the first person in Perth, Australia, to get the new iPhone 6, making him one of the first people in the world to get a new iPhone. So he was interviewed on TV. And it all went wrong.
Struggling with the lid of the box, and no doubt nervous at being the subject of a TV interview just for being the first person to have the iPhone 6, Jack applied a little too much force and saw his new iPhone 6 slipping out of the box and onto the ground.
When Jack grab the iPhone 6 from the ground, it didn't seem to be damaged, and Jack said "It's all good" - but it hit the ground with such force it's hard to imagine it escaping without a scratch, at least. Jack told the Perth Sunday Times, "I dropped it in a panic to get it open, luckily it's covered in plastic, so it's fine."

He also said he was looking forward to sitting down and playing with the new phone.

  1. I already watched this and it was really funny and hilarious. I can not believe he dropped the first iPhone in front of everyone. This was a really sad video and thanks to the lady he was really nervous.

  2. I've watched this video because it was in the homepage of Youtube. At first, I thought the iPhone broke, but it didn't, so it wasn't much of a deal. However, the fact that the first iPhone in Australia got dropped, was a huge deal for the crowd saying "ooh" and "ahh."

  3. What a person! Why in the world would you open the box like that?! It was so obvious that something like that was going to happen. I don't really get how people get so excited with a new phone. I think that technology is getting too inside people's heads.

  4. Hahaha!! That man should be more careful!! How can he drop the first iphone 6?? If I was him, I would try to be careful as possible. For that man it is really sad video but for other people, it is just so funny.

  5. This guy is a complete dumbass, dropping the iPhone 6 as soon as you grab it. I mean like c'mon man, its a freakin iPhone, take care of it.

  6. Well, that's embarrassing! However, I think on one aspect, the situation is a bit understandable. Because he has a camera right in his face a crowd waiting behind him, of course he is going to have slippery fingers! I agree with Arielle though, that it truly is a shame that devices and technology seem to be the only thing that matter to certain people. A new phone isn't something to get all worked up about. Hopefully once in a while we can all disconnect from those devices and enjoy each other in person. :)

  8. I feel sorry for that guy! how embarrassing he must have felt when he dropped it... but well it wasn't his fault. He was just really excited to finally have it. To be honest i don't like the new iphone but i guess it is okay.

  9. The first one to have it, the first one the drop it. Hey at least he won the two prices in the same day. I guess he was to excited by the new iphone that he did not noticed he was opening it upside down.

  10. It is a very good way to advertise the i phone. They don't brake so easily but the case is hard to open so be careful. Great advertisement technique, but kinda sucks that he already dropped it. I wish i had the new iPhone because i broke my i phone 5 screen so many times.

  11. Wow, this guy was seriously excited about getting his new IPhone. You can even tell that he was opening the box with alacrity, which was probably the reason why he dropped it. I remember the first time I dropped my IPhone 5 when I got it last year. It was the first week I got it, and I wasn't even in Guatemala when it happened. It was during Semana Santa when I was in Mexico :p

  13. Well that was smart. Its funny to think how embarrassing that would be. I get him though. You could see how excited he was that he accidentally dropped it and well that happens to be pretty much all the time.

  14. I guess he was a little too excited about the whole iPhone and being on tv thing, but I would be a little more careful when opening the box! Anyway, good thing the iphone doesn't break so easily!

  15. That would be so embarrassing to drop that in front of everybody. I am glad though that the Iphone was alright so then he didn't have to pay for it to get fixed. I get how he could drop it though because those boxes are really hard to open. I am always afraid I am going to drop it when I open the box.

  16. HAHAHA what a LOSER! I get how he was nervous and everything because he was in front of a camera and being interviewed, but that just gives him a better reason to be careful. Yeah, he was nervous, but he dropped it in front of everyone! I hope he's embarrassed enough.

  17. Yeah.. When I watched this, I felt so bad. I know how much iPhone costs and that guy was really excited to get iPhone. If he didn't care about his phone, I would not be sad, but he seemed really excited. Aww... I can see how he was a little panicked. Good luck man.

  18. That was funny to watch! I feel bad for him, but opening the box was just a complete failure. At least the screen did not scratch or anything big. I just hope he will be more careful with the phone next time he gets nervous because he is in front of a girl or something.

  19. Haha what a retard. First of all I want to point out that the new iphone is a joke, I see nothing different besides the size the only thing that changes is the price. That is why I feel sorry for the dude because that iphone is selling for some 1200 dollars and its just not worth it unless your a complete computer genius who will make great use of it.

  20. Although this man was the unlucky owner of the first dropped iPhone, he was the lucky owner of the first iPhone 6 sold commercially. I think the second 'accomplishment' surpasses the other one by a lot, and I am 100% sure Mr. Cooksey is already enjoying his phone as more than 10 million other people already are as well.
