The Power of a bookbook

Hello! Yesterday I saw this funny video which makes fun of technology by imitating commercials from Apple and Samsung. This video shows how useful real objects can be and all you can do with them. This video is great because its funny while being realistic. This makes you question how useful electronic devices actually are since you can have most features of say, a kindle with a real book. This video is a commercial for IKEA. IKEA released a catalog for their products and they decided to make a funny commercial for it. I like the idea of a funny commercial because it makes the person watching it remember it more than with a normal boring commercial. It kind of makes me want to get a bookbook and do all the things that happen in this video. I think this is a great idea for a commercial because you will remember it unlike other commercials. some people might think this is a bad commercial since a lot of the people who will watch this might have an apple or samsung product.

  1. At first, I was dazzled, figuratively speaking, regarding the credibility of this commercial. I wasn´t even sure if it was a real thing or not. However, after I read your paragraph, and watched through the end of the video, I began to understand. People nowadays are integrating so much time on making fun of other companies that they make themselves look low-grounded. Horrible commercial, to be honest.

  3. I liked the commercial. At first I was confused, I thought it was actually technology but then I realized it's making fun. I liked it but I would prefer my own books.

  5. I truly believe this ad is offensive to a certain degree. They're imitating Apple's unique and flagship way of presenting new products, and are trying to make it their own. Not only is this taking someone else's idea, but Ikea is not even Apple's competition. Samsung has also made fun of Apple products before, but its understandable because the companies compete with each other. I simply don't see the reason as to why Ikea would do this type of ad.

    1. Let me remind you Roberto, it is a spoof-a word Google so eloquently describes as a humorous imitation of something, typically a film or a particular genre of film, in which its characteristic features are exaggerated for comic effect.

  6. Oh my goodness, that was funny. My favorite part was definitely: “It’s not a digital book. Or an e-Book. It’s a Book Book.” I find it hilarious that they interrogate a sort of spoof on Apple or Samsung but advertising their own book, or should I say “book book”. I love it when companies get creative for their commercials. It really makes it not only enjoyable for viewer but very memorable as well. Thanks for sharing.

  7. This is really funny. I love it when people make these videos, especially because I don't get offended and I find it funny. How can someone come up with bookbook? However, it is very offensive towards the company and it's a little unethical.

  9. I think the Ikea commercial is very funny and creative. I really enjoyed watching this, and it caught a lot of people attention. It made me laugh at hoe they presented the bookbook. It made want to go buy a ikea bookbook.

  10. I loved it! I first I was kind of confused but then I noticed it was a joke. I personally like to use bookbooks than using an device to read, beacuse of all the advantages the guy said in the video.

  11. Ikea! I really like this commercial! I think this is really funny. It looks like an Apple commercial but it's better! I think that technology nowadays is too overused and it's relaxing to see a commercial with no technology in it. I don't think this commercial offensive, although some people might think it is. I think the creators of the ad were trying to do something different and I really think it works.
