Jibo: Fun Family Failure or Laughable Failure?

For those of you who don't know, there's something known as a JIBO out there. Somewhere. Lurking. Watching. Waiting. Casually helping out a family with basic tech tasks. JIBO is a home android made for family use. He's family friendly, comes in black and white, has a high non-violent voice, the whole scha-blang. Seems pretty cool. Seems like a step forward in turning the Terminator movies into our imminent reality. But, taking a step back to reevaluate, we come to wonder; is this the best JIBO can do? If you hadn't noticed JIBO most likely needs to be plugged in at all times, and it's not like it teleports from place to place within your house. You have to lug that swivelly thing under your arm so you can skype your son who made an excuse who made an excuse to not show up on the Holidays. I won't lie; it's a great product. I just think they could've done a lot better if they're charging over 200 dollars. *Disclaimer: I'm usually not so harsh, but I thought it made things interesting and you probably won't read all of it. Watch the vid and comment what you think!

  1. Jibo, Jibo, Jibo absolutely outstanding! Just when we thought technology could not get any greater, when iphone's 4,5, and 6 all seemed to have the same features with no improvements besides there designs here comes Jibo. This little Robot from my point of view has a huge future ahead of him. I can already see it as an essential tool for homes and families.l wish Jibo the best of luck and I hope to purchase one soon!

  2. I never thought i'd see wall-e in real life! Jibo is a really amazing device. I can't believe that it can actually do things like order food and remind you of things. I also like that it is completely wireless and you don't need to touch it or anything. Innovation seems to be lifting off little by little. Amazing device, and I would be happy to own one.

  3. This actually scares the living out of me. I can see this turning into an evil robot and then little by little they will create their own army of Jibo's and then take over the world because they know where you live and have pictures to prove it. They are cool though, but I prefer the robot from the Jetson's she was way nicer.

  4. I think this is a huge step forward to the future inventions that will be coming out. This really is amazing, though i wonder how much one costs!

  5. This looks really cool, exactly, looks. When you actually thing about it, its really creepy, this thing knows your every move and watches you all the time. And would you have to buy a separate one for every room or does it have legs too? Jibo, the robot with feelings....

  6. It seems pretty creepy. It seems like people could easily find random ones and kidnap you or something. Or it's another thing to invade our privacy. Whoever is behind this, I don't trust them. Technology can't be trusted. If you've seen I, Robot, then you'll know what the world will result in.

  7. I really like Jibo! But as Laura said is kind of creepy. having a little robot watching you every second of the day is not fun al all... Is fun having someone or in this case something helping you in the house but we really need a robot with feelings...

  8. I think JiBO looks cool but it's kind of weird having a robot that can talk to you and do most things people do.

  10. Jibo Jibo Jibo. It's bad. I just don't see the point in having this thing. It might have some pro's like pictures and stuff. But on the long shot, they are trying to replicate humans. I think that is just a huge con. They shouldn't be trying to replace humans.

  11. I think Jibo is an ideal invention for little kids and lazy families. It looks cool, as it's one of the few actual robots. I also expected a higher price because it's all new and stuff, but it's less than an average smartphone.

  12. Jibo, Jibo, Jibo what a failure. I really loathe Jibo, he is just a piece of metal destroying lives. Just imagine you are coming late to your house and you do not want anyone to noticed and this piece of metal called Jibo turns on the lights for you and wakes up everyone. What a waste of money and time. People should just build better stuff like a flying brownie, I do not know.

  13. I think Jibo is a little ridiculous, they're charging you a lot of money for a product that I think has very little productivity. I think he doe not really help much, and would be pretty weird to have a talking robot around.

  14. At the beginning it sounded cool, but now that I think about it, I don't want that thing in my house. Yeah, it looks pretty cool and it is a pretty good advance in technology that its actually available for normal people; however, it creeps me out. Even if this sound crazy, I feel like the government created this artifact in order to keep an eye on us. Imagine, that thing watching all your movements and that can actually recording them. I don't know about you, but that is really creepy for me. I feel like Jibo is like a undercover spy or something.

  15. Jibo seems to be a pretty cool product. It appears to be incredibly smart and I see it as a real-time Siri, if you will. It takes your commands instantly and recognizes things like when you're back home, or when you have to take pictures of a family member's birthday. Again, it's pretty cool, but I agree with the fact that it could have been made a little more versatile. It has to be plugged in and you have to be moving it around, but they might improve this in a couple of years.

  16. NSA!!!! I really just think that this is an excellent opportunity for the NSA to improve their spying methods. Just imagine it, it knows your names, address, likes and dislikes. I really wouldn't buy the Jibo. Sorry!

  17. Jibo is freaking creepy. I do not want that little thing infiltrating my family environment and selling my secrets to the government, because I know he will. If Jibo were to gain sentience, though, I wouldn't be scared since he's tethered to the nearest outlet by a pretty short cord.

  18. Jibo is so cool! I totally want one, but I would never get it. Not only because of the price, but also because it is completely unnecessary. I mean, who really needs an expensive robot to remind them of things and do things for them when people can do it themselves. This video is just really good and making the clients believe that they really need and want Jibo, but in reality, they don't. It doesn't mean that it's not cool, it's just unnecessary.

  19. Hmm this is pretty cool. JIBO makes me want to try it out for at least a week, just to see if it's as efficient as they make it seem. The bad thing about it though is, do you have to carry it everywhere? That would probably get really tiring. Other than that, I think it would be a cool thing to have as long as you don't become dependent of it.

  20. I think this is really a good idea and I would really want to have one. I think it is really cool that he can even talk and show videos like in the part of video where the robot tells the girl a story. If there's Jibo it would not be boring while doing something or when you are alone.

  21. Honestly, if it was cheap or I was rich, I would buy one regardless of how many flaws it might have. I would love to own a robot like this! The only thing that would make it better would be the ability to do homework. Although, I would probably lock it up every night...I'd rather not buy one with an evil soul inside it or something.

  22. That is so cool!!! I want one so badly. I like is because it can help you in a lot of things. It looks really cool how the technology has advance in a lot of time. It think it is a great idea for the people. It is going to be cool things for the future.
