An extremely valuable skill or On why I want you to stop whining

For all of you out there complaining about having to learn VBA, SQL or HTML, here's a video with a bunch of compelling reasons for you to stop questioning the usefulness of computer programming. Hope it gets rid of all your silly "what are we going to use it for?" reasoning.

  3. What computer programming and coding have done in this world is simply amazing. I think nobody in the 70s, for example, ever thought computers and the internet would become as widespread or even exist in the way they do in the present. Without code, we wouldn't be able to publish comments or blogposts like these and we wouldn't even have this blog. Everything we can think about in the electronic world, not just the internet, but all of your iOS, Mac OS X, Linux, Android, Windows, and all of those operating systems wouldn't exist if it weren't for code. This is why I think code is of huge value and I'm glad to be learning it for it probably is the language of the future.

  4. That's true. I sincerely think that persons who know how to do programming are going, and are starting to be, the most requested for job in the future. Programming is everywhere now days. Computers, cellphones, tablets, even this text box was made out of sheer coding. As in the video, I also think that programers are going to be the wizards of the future because they can basically make everything. I kind of like programming (except for Excel).

  5. I think programming is a very useful tool, but I am for certain one of the persons who complain about it. But I am not complaining about how it is not useful,I am complaining about how I don't know how to program. I am spending most of the time trying to figure out what the i am doing cause i just don't get. But besides that programming can be very useful especially if your are taking a career path that relates to programming.

  6. I do not think we should be learning how to program since most people do not like programming. i think the school should have an extra class for those who want to learn who to use programming.

  7. This opened up my mind! I had not realized and I am sure I have not yet realized all that you can accomplish once you know programming.
    Thanks for sharing, Mr. Diego!

  8. I don't complain about programming, I actually enjoy it very much. I think that programming is a good skill to have, although some people say that it is a skill they will NEVER use in their lives. I like the feeling of watching your program run. It is exhilarating! We should all be happy that we are learning something in computer class!

  9. I was interested in programming until I actually tried it. You need to memorize so many commands for something to work. It's cool how people use this to make programs like games, websites, etc.

  10. The fact that this is the only video willing to load is a divine sign that I need to stop complaining about SQL, although I'm still not sure how it will ever help me as I have not yet experienced any usefulness from it. My apologies Mr. Diego, I'm sure SQL is insanely useful and I will benefit from using it deeply.

  11. Programming seems cool, but it is so difficult to learn. But now I think I can finally understand a little bit of why we are learning programming. It is really cool that we can do almost everything with programming. Maybe I should really learn how to do it now.

  12. Well, I'm not sure of what to say. I mean, it looks cool and once you learn it you can create so much, but going through the process of learning to code is just tedious to even think about. I wish I could just magically know coding, so I will continue to complain, but at least I know this is not useless.
