EAS vs. Christian Academy

By: Amir

On Tuesday, October 25th, the girls’ basketball team made their first appearance in an official friendly against an experienced and powerful Christian Academy at around 3:40 to 4:30. Unfortunately, our team wasn't able to win the game. HOWEVER, from my perspective, they all played an exceptionally well fought match even though the balance was tilted towards Christian Academy for a number of reasons. Firstly, they were much more experienced than us. Secondly, they've had more practice time than us. And thirdly, they were all talented and their strategy was killing us because of lack of preparation. Anyways, that’s how I saw it. Girls you did exceptionally well, but I expect you to win next game! Every one in the basketball, tell us what you felt before, during, and after the game, we all want to know!

  1. Well, before the game I was not nervous I was just excited and wanted to play. During the game I technically got a little mad because of certain reasons including fouls. After I felt really good I was glad the girls did so well. They are improving a lot. You guys are awesome!!!!!

  2. We want a rematch after practicing a little more. Haha anyways, before the game, I was nervous because I didn't know how good or how tall the girls were. But at the same time, I was excited and I wanted to play already! During the game, other than the fact that the other girls were twice as tall as me, it felt good to actually play. After the game, I was happy for our team even though we had lost. But we didn't care that much because we had a good first game.

  3. The game was awesome! From Ganzie's half court buzzer-beater at the end of the second quarter to Arige driving up the court over and over, the team played a consistent, energetic game. All you guys need is time and practice.

  4. Before the game I felt exited but scared, because I knew that they were all juniors and seniors, with a lot more experience than we did, and I knew they would be a lot taller too. During the game it was fun until we all got hurt, for example pushes in the back, elbows hitting heads, or even all the fouls we did to each other.

  5. I really liked Ms. A's coaching and Amir and Bryan's advice. They had diagrams and everything, man! Thanks so much to everyone who made this possible, we had tons of fun. I think we prepared as hard as we could, we just need more time, just like Mr. AB said. I love the dedication of the team members--the atmosphere of the practices encourage kindness and health, and that's what I love about our attitudes!

  7. I HAD SO MUCH FUN YESTERDAY!!! It was really awesome. I think we did pretty good for our first game! I have to admit I was a bit nervous when I saw those huge girls coming out of the bus. I agree with Sariah, during the first quarter I had two girls pushing me really bad, and then I decided to be rough with them as well. I want to thank everyone who went and 'apoyated' us, esp. Mr. AB (even though he admitted he was an undercover spy for Christian Academy) I can't wait for our next game!!! :D

  8. I didn't have the opportunity to see the game. I bet you played an awesome game though. Also, I've heard that Christian Academy has a lot of experience as a school in sports, especially in basketball. I mean, it was the first game the girls played with other schools. With a little bit more experience and practice, I am quite sure you will win sometime in the near future.

  9. Wow this is great i think that winning is not that important but how you feel about playing the game.
And they say you played good so you go girls!

  10. I wish I saw the game! I love to encourage our school in sports. I wish I didn't have homework though. I would have called my mother right away to ask her I can watch the game. Even though you girls didn't win, I'm still proud we have a great basketball team to increase the school spirit.

  11. I wish I could have been there to watch the game... But I think win or lose is not the important thing! The important thing, that I think, is that you, as a team, have gained more experiences. With your great coaches and team members, you will rule Guatemala!!! :)

  12. I heard about that amazing half court shot. WAY TO GO GANZIE! If you just keep making those shots you'll win in no time.

  13. Even though I'm sad that the team lost the game, I'm happy that you still went and had fun, because winning isn't the most important part. I hope that next game the team wins!

  15. For the people who said they wanted to come watch the game, you can still come to our next game! That will be fun! And I agree with Sariah and Adriana, they fouled a lot even though they wouldn't call it. But it was really fun and a great experience! Thanks to the Awesome coach Ms. Adrienne and the assistant coaches Amir and Bryan. Also to the boys who came to practices to scrimmage.

  16. Yeah, it was definitely an entertaining game to watch. The girls were running up and down trying their best. Even though we lost this time, I expect us to win next time!!!! Rematch!!!!

  17. I was their watching the game and I must agree that the equity girls played really well. In this case I agree with Amir. The main reason we lost was because of our lack of experience. Fortunately, we can only improve from here on out.

  18. Well before the game I was really calm but once I saw the bus where they were coming i got really nervous. Once we were playing I started to have fun. it kind of bothered me that they were doing a lot of fouls. After the game even though we lost, I still felt happy because it had been a really good game. Until the day of today I still have pain in my left arm, I think it was because I got hit, but that is an I think. Either way, good job basketball team!

  19. Looking at all the pictures that are on our basketball website you can definitely tell that the girls are having fun and enjoying themselves. After all it is about having fun not winning. Although sometimes winning helps with the having fun part. Next time we will win. Rematch!!! Thanks to our amazing coach and assistant coaches!!!!

  28. I really wanted to see the game, but I couldn't. Anyway, good job girls, and you looked so cool in your uniforms.!

  29. Even though I wasn't able to watch the game, I can imagine you girls running hard to score. Don't worry for the game because the team always always gets better when they loose a game. The team can fix the errors that they had made during the game and improve other strategies. Once Thosmas Edison said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work” What I want to say to you girls is that you did not fail, you just found one strategy that does not work in winning CAG
