What Your Sleeping Positions Say About You.

So as my creative juices died out, I asked HaNuel, my classmate, what I could write about for a blog post. But before she even answered I had already found an interesting video about sleep, and as I watched it I received a notification that HaNuel had answered. I opened the link and believe it or not, it was exactly the same video I had been watching just seconds ago! Isn´t that strange? Well, I thought it was.
So the actual topic for this blog post is not about my weird experience. The topic is actually about our sleeping positions and what they say about us. I have come to realize that everyone has a sleeping position that they prefer. It might be sleeping face down, or sleeping like a soldier, where your arms are right next to you, but almost everyone has a position they prefer. Have you ever wondered if the way you sleep means something? Well it does! I can´t really say I have a favorite position because the position I sleep in depends on many other factors. So it´s kind of safe for me to say that I sleep in all positions… So enough about me. Now think of the position you sleep in and then comment on it. Hope this was interesting to watch.

  1. I remember when you first showed me this video! It was very interesting to see the meanings behind our sleeping positions. I am not sure what´s my sleeping position, because I start out with one and then in the night I change. It´s very rare for me to stick to the same position that I fell asleep with.

    1. It was interesting how Carlota and I found the same video! I actually sleep all around the bed but I keep the same position. I always hug something while I sleep...so does that count as a "position" too? I don't want to sleep in that position but I think it naturally comes to me.

  2. Well, believe it or not, I don't have one specific favorite position. When I lay in bed and start drifting to sleep, I'm in the fetus position, but then, when I wake up, I'm in the yearner position, so I'm sort of like a mix. It would be interesting to know what positions I go through while sleeping, because I'm pretty sure I go through a process to get from fetus to yearner.

  3. This was a pretty cool video and topic. I especially liked how the whole video was stop motion. I have to agree with Pablo that I don't have a single position, but I switch between probably three. But I never thought that they way we sleep can show something about us. Thanks for sharing! :)

  4. I have no clue how I sleep at night, I tend to move positions so I can feel more comfortable. So I guess I am a little bit of all of them! Except that I have to have a pillow so i can hug so I sleep more in the fetus position.Although this is intresting I doubt your sleeping position can tell you who you are.

  5. Wow, interesting video Carlota! I find it weird that many people are posting about sleep, but I guess that's what just we teenagers want nowadays. I watched the video, and I didn't really know what position I sleep in. I thought that it could be close to the yearner. However, I really don't know what I'm in need of. Once I slept in a position similar to the soldier, just with my arms on my chest, and I had the best sleep. Unfortunately, the quality of my sleep doesn't depend on just one specific position.

  6. Wow. Now I have to figure out how I sleep at night for sure because i tend to toss and turn alot instead instead of staying in one position. This si really cool that you can tell that much about someone while their asleep.

  7. I remember I saw this video with Ms. Alycia a pretty long time ago but I had completly forgotten about it. After watching this video I realized that I tend have a different position every night, if that even makes sense. Although it usually alternates between the fetus, the I'll sleep in the fetus, the starfish, the yearner, and the freefaller. I admire whoever can sleep in the soldier position or the log.

  8. This might be interesting, but I kept waiting for them to mention my sleeping position and I'm still waiting. I sleep in a fetus-like position, except I have a hand under the pillow and the other one is spread out and my legs are more spread out too. So I guess it's not a fetus-like position, but it wasn't mentioned. Does that mean I have no personality?

  9. I move a lot through the whole night so I guess I do all of the position above. But I guess that the sleeping position that I use the most is the fetus and it is really comfortable. I also agree with Laura because sleeping in a the log position must be really hard to stay still through the night. And if you sleep in the log position, I respect you.

  10. This video is really interesting! But I don't know my sleeping position. Mine changes everyday... But I usually start with the fetus position but end up with some other position... but it was interesting that the sleeping position shows your personality ^^

  11. I remember reading an article a long time ago that your sleeping positions are intimately related to your subconscious. So if you sleep like a curled-up baby, you're not very confident about your situation right now, whatever it might be. But again, maybe you're a really confident and strong person that slept with the windows open.

  12. This video is so cool. It is interesting how sleeping positions can actually define some of your characters. For me this doesn't really work, because I always sleep with different positions. Still it was really fun to watch this video and learn something new.

  13. It's funny because I sleep in different positions depending on how I'm feeling. It would be interesting to find more information about this. Why do you sleep in each position. I thought the video was very interesting.

  14. Interesting video! I am surprised by how many people in the comments are saying that they have a different sleeping position everyday. For me, it's either the fetus position or the free-faller. Both are super comfortable for me, but as others mentioned, the position I go to bed with does depend on my mood. For example I just realized that if I'm feeling down or sick I will sleep in the fetus position (this only applies to certain times, not always). Regardless, it's cool to see the correlation.

  15. I think I am in between soldier position and starfish position. I used to sleep in fetus position, but sleeping in one position for a lifetime hurt my shoulders so I had to change my sleeping habit. It was not easy to change it, and I still sometimes sleep in fetus position, but I think sleeping straight fits me the best. I don't think all people in the world can be defined in these six types, but this video was interesting and entertaining.

  17. This is really cool to know what are the positions people usually sleep and the names. I sleep in different positions every night, some of the positions I sleep in are in here but some are not. I sleep in different weird positions, once I slept in my room and I woke up in another room. I don't know if they moved me or I walked.

  18. I move around a lot when I sleep and I have woken uo to a lot of those positions what does that say about me?

  19. PRETTY INTERESTING TO DO WITH HOW OUR PERSONALITY IS AND HOW DO WE ACT WHEN WE ARE AWAKEN.

  20. This is some truly amazing science being portrayed here. It is rather incredible that you can figure out the way someone is just by looking at the position they sleep in. I really don't know in what position I sleep the most, but I found a few that I've done before. Anyway, I guess they can conclude this since sleep is what gives rest to your brain. If you are a tense person, then you will probably sleep in the soldier position, for your brain is trying to release all that tension. I'm not sure about this, but it seems like a reasonable hypothesis as to why the making of this video was possible.

  21. Well I really do not know my sleeping position since I always change everyday. I think it is interesting how sleeping can teel what kind of person you are. I think my sleeping position is the starfish because when I am really tired I like sleeping or take a nap in that position.

  22. I have a mixture between the Yearner and the Free faller, at night I usually like to switch positions. That says much about me since I believe I am a pretty desperate person who can's stay still always trying to do things as fast as possible. I believe it does relate to my way of sleep that is never still.
