Rolling Fall

On Tuesday afternoon, rain clouds loomed in the sky, so afternoon volleyball was cancelled. Naturally, many of the students who would have otherwise been playing volleyball came streaming into the computer lab. The games commenced! Hot dog games and stick figure light saber fights and motorcycle races. But the one that interested me the most was that which Cesar was playing: Rolling Fall. It's the one you see above, and the basic idea behind the game is that you must solve increasingly difficult puzzles in which you hit zombies with cannon balls. The rules of the game are all governed by physical laws. The game reminds me a whole lot of Crayon Physics.

I tried desperately to explain to Cesar that he was actually learning about physics as he was playing, but he wouldn't listen. Your blog comments today must do one of two things:
  • Either explain a physical law that is at work in this game
  • Or, tell me an idea for a very simple game like Rolling Fall that teaches its player as they play

  1. One law is the law of gravity in which an object is attracted to the center of the earth which is why we can't float.

  2. This game is really funny and you can learn playing because when you passing the levels you explore new things about gravity.

  3. This is a funny game with Newton's laws of motion and it is a game that has to do with gravity. It is like the game, "angry birds" and it can sometimes annoy you if the ball or bird goes to another place that you dont want it to go.

  4. I remember this game! He was playing it beside me that day. I think it might relate to Newton's FIrst Law of Motion, Inertia, that states that something in motion or in one place, will remain that way unless something stops or moves it.

  5. There is a game called Line Runner. You draw a track for the runner and the track should keep him run by making slops or hills. If you want to play Line Runner, here the link.

  6. It explains how things are related to the use of lever. It uses the weight of the ball and makes the stair to make the zombies fly. I think it is a simple usage of simple machine... There is a game like this in Nitrome called Numbskull which uses the movement of the skull and blocks.

  7. It teaches how with two points of fulcrum the ball will sustain its energy longer until the point where you have to cut the chain to release the ball slowly.

  8. There is a computer game that teaches a person a lot as the person plays. That game is starcraft! I know that it sounds stupid, but even though I don't like that game, I must admit that it shows the gamer about statistics and also how to use properly an open space.

  9. This is a really good game, that needs a lot of thinking. this game is one of the games that a person can really pass the time "learning" to kill zombies. Gravity is the force that kills the zombie/everything

  10. Another very simple game that teaches its players as they play is a game like does golf games in where the only way to be able to pass level is if you are able to put the ball in the hole. The only way for you to put it in is by calculating how fast you want to hit the ball, also calculating were it would land with the velocity and the wind.

  11. Another game that teaches something is the game called Bug on A Wire. This game helps you calculate faster and it makes your mind work faster, as it goes on. At the beginning it might be easy but as the seconds pass it gets complicated and if you do not want to get eaten by birds you have to get faster and make good decisions faster.
