The Oculus Rift
I don't know if any of you have heard of Oculus Rift. I know a few of you have, but in the event some of you remain in the dark, I will explain. The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset. Sounds a bit mundane, but it's actually really cool beans. You put it on and you can see and interact with worlds. This is especially cool for any of you gamers out there. It's like you could be inside a video game. Anyway, watch the cool videos with the cool old people. It's awesome, trust me.

This is so cool~! Why only the elders? They should try with little kids too. I bet that little kids' reaction would be as funny as theirs. So what do you do with this Oculus? Do you just walk and see the view or is there any more option? Anyway, this is so cool, I wish to get one!
ReplyDeleteHahahah this was actually funny, the way the elders are reacting and how they say bad words. I started laughing when they got to the roller coaster part and were genuinely portraying what they would've felt on a real roller coaster. I definitely want to try it out! Very entertaining post Chris!
ReplyDeleteThis seems a very entertaining device, I can only imagine how I would have reacted if it had been me using it, instead of an elder man. There will come a time, when we are the old people, that someone will laugh at how we look at their modern-day technology. Everything is going to continue to be improved, so I'm not surprised if we have even funnier reactions when our time comes.
ReplyDeleteI have seen a lot of Youtubers play the Oculos, however, the elders are way funnier. The girl who kept getting motion sick was such a party pooper. I wish I could try that game because it looks so awesome!

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a cool new invention. I would like to try and use it. It looks fun. I love the reaction of the one lady who's afraid of heights. She starts freaking out when they put her on the roller coaster. She started hyperventilating and screaming.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about this before. This seems really interesting, I would really like a pair of those. The elders were really funny, especially in the rollercoaster. When they jumped off the tracks there was this one elder that was laughing so hard.

I knew about the Oculus Rift idea itself but didn't know it was already made. When I was a kid, I thought it was going to be impossible to make something like this, but they made it. I'd like to use it one day.
ReplyDeleteThe black dude and the mind control guy were by far the most entertaining. The dude who wanted to hug a virtual naked lady was obnoxious. Nice video though. It seems to me this is a product that could be used for old people, especially those with dementia. We can give them a way to wander around without worrying about them getting hit by cars or bringing home dead birds. Great product.

ReplyDeleteThe Oculus Rift seems to be the next big thing in the realm of technology. Facebook got it several months ago, and from what I hear, they're achieving pretty darn cool things with this 'gaming console.' This is a big leap into the future of gaming and makes me wonder what gaming will be like decades from now...

ReplyDeleteIt is funny to see old people getting fun at something that back then it was impossible. Even 5 years ago it was something that would have been created in the future, such as 100 years from now, but instead was created a year ago. So the tech in this era is progressing faster than ever.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is pretty amazing, but like everything it has a downside. I can see this turning into a different version of "Fahrenheit 451." People would just be living through a screen, ignorant to the world around them. Everyday, more and more people become so invested in the technological world that they forget about the physical world surrounding them.
ReplyDeleteIf you were to read the captions posted below during the video you would notice the many interesting facts given about the device. One that stood out was the fear coming from gaming companies thinking that this will over-take the gaming community and put it out of business.
ReplyDeleteThey are so funny to watch and they made the device much funner than ever. It is incredible how elders have the knowledge of a lot of things, but not this. They are really funny to watch how they react to technology. I like it a lot.

ReplyDeleteThis is REALLY funny! I've always loved elders' reactions to new technology. My grandma just got a tablet and at the beginning it was funny because she couldn't quite handle it. Now she knows how to use it! Coming back to the Oculus Rift, I really think it's a cool new gadget, but I have to agree with some of the elders' opinions that this will just engage more and more teens into playing video games. This, in the near future, will help support bad grades and rebellious attitudes.
ReplyDeleteAwwhh, I wanted to see more of how they act to a horror game. It was really funny to see their reaction when they were in a roller coaster. I want to have that Oculus Rift. I think that thing is really amazing and it's going to be so realistic playing a game with that thing on.

Its actually really cool that that is possible and that someone made that. I dont know how i would react to that though. Id probably just say how cool it is and stuff.
ReplyDeleteOkay, the people's reactions were hilarious! It's also really funny that at times some of their comments are so obvious, but I guess that's what makes the video funny. One thing I noticed is that every person showed their personality while giving a comment. One person showed a really childish part of them, one showed a really girly side, and one showed a really sophisticated side. It's something I noticed, but I don't think it's that important.
