I posted this video because I love how the people in the video make like a whole show based on what happens when you put a Mento in Diet Coke. I'm curious about how they got all those bottles of Diet Coke and all those Mentos, and I'm also curious about why does that happen when you drop a Mento into Diet Coke. For any of you who want to figure out the answer to my last curiosity, watch this video too:
I wonder how they make the coke split out in many ways out from the same bottle. Maybe they put several holes on the bottle cap. Although it might be awesome, I heard that somebody did this once and definitely died. When I was in fifth grade, I remember we did a bottle rocket project with an egg somewhere attached to the bottle. Our egg didn't crack and we got like 6th place, which was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI did that for my science project when I was in 6th Grade. Well, and I got a conclusion that the gas of Coke reacts to the gas of the Mentos. Also, I ended up that I could also do it with other mint candies other than Mentos. So it is interesting how the chemical reaction cause this explosion. I wonder if there is anything that uses this reaction to create something for our daily life.
ReplyDeleteI also wonder how that happens, and why it only happens with mentos. When I watched the video, I was wondering if it would work with another type of candy. It's really cool how the cascade of coke comes out of the bottle. It would be amazing to see that in person! :)
ReplyDeletehahaha I remember my sister Ha Nuel doing this project for her science project. It was AWESOME!! I was like wow... Because I didn't expect that it was going to be happening like that. But it's really interesting. I want to know specifically why it's happening like that.
ReplyDeleteMan this reminds me of several things I've seen throughout my life, just got to say, I felt like peeing when I was watching this. Anyways a movie, who's name I can't disclose, had the same experiment but they would throw the bottles to the ground in order to make them fly, the point of making them fly was to hit the rest of the people inside the small locked room. It is a very interesting video and also, aren't these the guys that make a presentation in some country?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, if I were to take a guess on why this happens, it would be that mentos and soda chemically react when merged together. But that is just my guess, I don't really know specifically why this happens, we would have to ask Ms. Barillas.
ReplyDeletehahah i know what movie you are talking about Jorge..... I wonder what inspired these guys to take more than a 100 experiments until they got it all perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to watch but when it happens to your bottle then it's not funny. I wonder why the same thing happens when you just shake the bottle instead of putting mentos. I tried it once with an open bottle but before the guy could open it the fizz just died out.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying this i have to its destiny i wanna see if its trueeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteI knew that coke exploded when you eat it with vanilla ice-cream, but I didn't know it also exploded with Mentos. Anyway this experiment is so interesting, and later I want to do this experiment for the Science Fair.
ReplyDeleteCoke explodes when you eat it with vanilla ice cream!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteCoke can't explode with vanilla ice cream! What about coke floats then?
ReplyDeleteAhh yeah, I still remember Hanuel´s 6th grade experiment. It was interesting. I also think that they explode do to chemical reactions but since i am not sure I might take Amir´s recommendation: ask Mrs. Barillas about it. It might be an interesting explanation after all..
ReplyDeleteHahaha imagine, you are eating a Vaca Negra and u suddenly explode....
ReplyDeleteIt would be like hillarious, at the same time, it would be really scary... Now, I'm not gonna drink Vaca Negra from Anywhere... Oh! I even figured out that this doesn't necessary have to be coke, but it can be any carbonated drink....
