The importance of questioning everything
These videos are all from a film called 'Waking life', which is mainly about lucid dreams, a topic you may find a bit too far-fetched to interest you. However, through the film you're exposed to a bunch of conversations regarding a nice variety of philosophical, political and social subjects. It might get a bit presumptuous, but you'll certainly find enough stuff to think about while watching it.

Of course I was not surprised to realize this monstrosity is one of Linklater's creations, blurring the lines between innovation and pretension. Just ambitious as it is ostentatious, Boyhood, Slacker, Waking Life.... They're all very hard to take seriously when you take into consideration Linklater was also behind Bad News Bears and Fast Food Nation. It's critic bait.

ReplyDeleteThe woman's video really got my attention. I agree with her in that words are inert. Nobody can comprehend "love" if he/she hasn't experienced it. What is interesting is that words like "love" and "sadness" have become internationally comprehended words. One might have not experienced happiness or love, but one still knows what it is without an explanation. There is nothing solid to back the definition of "love" up, but we still all know what it is. Despite the fact that it is from Linklater, the topics debated here have importance and are worth to comprehend.
ReplyDeleteI like the drawings, I don't know if they were drawings or effects on real people. I think that they are all interesting and that it is true when you cannot comprehend love when you have not experienced it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the first video that the words are inert. I would be able to understand the words like "Love" or "Frustration" because I have experienced it before. So I can understand how it feels. I think it's really important to be able to understand the emotions.
