Biographical Note:
Hello or hi, I am a Korean girl and I am 14 here but I am 15 in Korea. I want to remind you that my birthday is on January 6th. I have a brother and a sister. My hobby is to play computer, to sing aloud, and dance. I like to chat with others especially. My friends says that I talk too much and too fast but I do not think I am like that. Back to my hobby, I like to go watch scary movies and action movies. I also like to bother people. When I am alone, I think of stories that I can write. Last thing that I want to tell is that I like to eat fried chicken! |
You Are My Best Friend
by Ji Eun
I think the gorilla felt bad about the pineapple tree...
ReplyDeleteIt is funny but at the same time sweet story! :D
I love the personification that trees cried loud.
It would be funny if I'm a farmer and I had to cut off fruits from the tree and the tree starts to cry... I would feel really bad to cut the fruits off. I'm starting to feel thankful about everything that I have... after I just thought about how it would be painful to have a piece of the tree getting pulled off.
I think that the gorilla looks VERY funny in this picture, and that it is very sweet of him to think about what the other trees feel, and that instead of staying in the same tree for a long time, he goes with other trees.
ReplyDeleteThis gorilla is giving us a lesson, I think, that is that instead of staying with a person all the time, we should be looking for others to spend the time, because, first of all, the person might get annoyed, and second, other people might be waiting for someone to talk to them and make new friends. In other words, there are thousands of people out there wants to be friends with you!!
I know this is a simple story, but I find it to be so funny and sweet. The characterization of the gorilla focuses almost completely on his emotional point of view: he has a favorite tree, he gets angry easily, he reacts so swiftly, he's empathic and likes to give hugs, but his emotions certainly rule him. In retrospect, he kind of reminds me of Homer Simpson.
ReplyDeleteI think that that gorilla was very carried away by his feelings, because he's usually sweet and full of joy, but once that pineapple fell and hit his head, he started raging and started to rage with the tree, once he noticed that he was doing something bad to the tree, he goes to him and hugs it, as if he was saying to him that he was sorry.
ReplyDeletesuch a sweet and a funny story.
No!!!!! not another gorilla!!! I've read enough about gorillas already (Ishmael). Anyways, this gorilla must be bipolar; no gorilla would charge at a tree and then after it sees that it becomes sad, he suddenly changes moods and gives the tree a hug.
ReplyDeleteI think this is very kind. Well I mean a gorilla coming up to a tree to give it a hug. This is very thoughtful, because I don't think the reader might expect that the rest of the pineapple trees would cry. I don't know why but I keep imagining the gorilla and the trees in cartoon, was it meant to be a cartoon-like image or a normal real life image like?
ReplyDeleteYour story had such beautiful simplicity! I could literally see a painting in my mind's eye as I read your words. You have much beauty in your writing :)
ReplyDeleteWow! This story was cute. I really like this story even thought it is short, it has both funny moments and also sweet moments, like when the gorilla went to the pineapple tree and hugged it only because he saw that it was sad. You did a really good job. I was able to imagine all this scene and it was good. Even by such short story I was able to see that that gorilla was kind and did not want to make the pineapple tree to cry.
ReplyDeleteThe gorilla seems to get mad easily as well as feel bad about hurting his friend. This is a sweet story about a gorilla and his quickly changing emotions.
ReplyDeleteThanks Guys and Mr. Ab! I love to write about gorillas. I just feel friendly when I am writing about them. When I was writing about this story, I imagined all the scenes in my mind. I just wanted to express not all gorillas are dangerous. I wanted to show that sometimes gorillas are friendly and sweet.
ReplyDeleteIts a nice story especially for its size. The cool part though is if you read the story then look at the picture it looks like the gorilla got angry again and started biting the tree.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really nice story, even thought its short the story makes sense and it also brings out the gorillas behavior. The part that I found interesting was the part when the trees started to cry because I never expected that the trees in the story would have real human life, because when do you see tress crying. I also liked how the gorilla at the end comforted the tree by hugging it.
ReplyDeleteI like this story! It made me smile when i finished it. I think the gorilla and the pineapple tree are like my sister and me. We fight but soon we talk as nothing has happened.
ReplyDeleteThis small text's worth a great amount of valuable and interesting information. Pretty good story, and really like the context that lies within it. I find it very hard to write stuff so short like this story, and make it have such a powerful meaning to it. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI have always laughed at Ji eun's story's mostly be be uase someone or something always ends up getting hurt but in a funny Ji eun way. I can almost imagine Ji eun doing the same thing the gorilla did. THIS STORY IS TOO... FUN!
ReplyDeletehahahaha great story!! As Josh said, Ji eun, I just LOVE your stories! I never expected the pineapple trees to cry OR the gorilla to start hugging a tree because other trees are crying..... Wow! I like how the gorilla changes his mood really fast haha! :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough this is a simple story, it is very expressive and it gives you time to think and gives alot of time for your brain to think about it and is very good.
ReplyDeleteThe part of the trees crying also seems to bring out a lot of feeling in trees and makes the story make more sense.
ReplyDeleteJi Eun! I LOVE this story! It's very creative and fun to read. I loved how the gorilla became all nice and sweet after being very angry at the tree. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! This story is awesome! It is so short, and simple, but so full of meaning. I love how he ended up hugging the tree! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThe gorilla is too nice
ReplyDeleteand i thought gorillas like banana trees
I think the gorilla was mad at first but he thought why take revenge on the pineapple tree.
ReplyDeletei think it was nice of him huging the tree and proboly saying sorry for pulling the pineapples
ITs funny and adorable
Good story Ji Eun, This story tells us alot,
ReplyDeleteeven dough its this short.
Nice work!!!
hahaha, yes. I thought the gorillas like the banana tress than pineapple trees but I wanted to write more unique way and more funnier. I wanted to make the gorilla unique from other gorillas. Also i wanted to show that gorillas are really friendly and lovely when they become friends.

ReplyDeleteThis story is really good. I believe it has all the necessary characteristic of an excellent story with quality work. Congratulations, Ji Eun for such a wonderful short story about a very unique topic!
ReplyDeleteJI Eun I think in your biographical note you should have put your best friend on it. Wouldn't it be funnier if the gorilla was king kong with planes falling on his head
ReplyDeleteThis story is really good. I believe it has all the necessary characteristics of an excellent story with quality work. Congratulations, Ji Eun for such a wonderful short story about a very unique topic!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good story, Ji Eun. I like the personification when the trees start to cry. I'm glad the gorilla stopped hurting the pineapple tree.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe that gorillas are bipolar. It's like calling a clown an emo-clown. Have you ever heard of an emo-clown??? I would LOVEe to see one. The funny thing about it is that clowns are supposed to be fun and all exciting rather than being sad and depressed.
ReplyDeleteAmir, about emo-clowns,that reminds me of the video of the annoying orange!!!!!! Even though I want to hear your MFP about it, I will NEVER watch Saw. And I think Edie thinks the same way...

ReplyDeleteJosh, I agree that I can imagine my sister doing something that this gorilla did. This is a secret...
ReplyDeleteShe is actually a gorilla in my house... you should see her jumping like a gorilla. xD
this short-short-short story was written very well. i think it was nice or cute the way the gorilla got angry at first because of the pineapple hitting his head, but later realizing he was doing something bad, and went to give the tree a hug as if saying "i'm very very sorry." and i totally agree with you MR. AB, the gorilla does remind me a lot of Homer Simpson. as, most of the times he is carried away or controlled by his emotions.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Ki Joon. After several readings, one thing that sticks out to me is that the hug comes after the temper tantrum. It's like Ji Eun is saying that it's okay to follow your emotions, so long as you are willing to make amends after.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this story. I believe it is very important that even if sometimes your actions offend or hurt someone the most important thing is to amend it and show that you are sorry just like the gorilla did by giving the tree a hug
ReplyDeleteThats really cool, I mean because they can do really cool things. I ts awsome.
ReplyDeleteI think Ji Eun just described herself with my dog. She is just like that when she is with the dog. She screams at the dog, pulls the toys out from him, pulls him out from his bed, and even jumps around with the sleepy dog! When she feels bad for the dog, she just goes and hugs him around, until he pees on her. Well, I think Ji Eun is just like Homer Simpson.
