Stop the Knot

Recently, a video was posted on YouTube that show people running around and cutting off the the small knots/buns on the top of men's heads. Although it was later explained through another video that it was fake, it still sparked controversy. People have either loved what they had supposedly done or they were very angry. Those who were angry were upset because they felt like the men who did the prank had overstepped their boundaries and were ignorant and hypocrites.

So what do you guys think? If was something real, do you think the pranksters were in the wrong? What do you think of the Stop the Knot campaign?

Here's the original video:

Here's the video in which they explain how it was fake:

  1. It being fake does make me feel a bit less guilty about it. Even if someone does have a hairstyle you don't agree with, you shouldn't just cut it off! Though it is hair, so its not like cutting it would be the end of the world.

  2. I lost even more respect for these guys after watching their apology video than I did after watching Stop the Knot. The fact that it was staged makes me question their motives. Did they create it for sheer entertainment? Or were they actually fed up with the hair trend? I find the trend itself unattractive, but that is simply my opinion. I guess we all ought to accept the idea that the internet is a medium for expressing one's opinions. But when someone takes it too far to be derogative toward others, I don't find that acceptable.

  5. At first it was funny, but it is very disrespectful. They had no right to cut other peoples hair. When I saw the sorry video it was kind of weird because they were cutting the hair of people they knew.

  6. I saw the original video for the first time earlier last week. Honestly, it left me speechless because I really did think it was real. The fact that they made it with their friends, who knew what was happening, makes it just a little better. Still, cutting off people's hair is not something you should just go around doing - even if it is a joke! However, having said that, that trend really, really does need to stop. It's simply unattractive.

  7. I don't see the point these guys had for 'stopping the knot'. They may not like that hair style at all, but they must respect it at least. There are many things we don't like about many different people, yet we respect it and let it be. Also, I consider that the second video was everything but an apology... I don't understand how people can actually be entertained by this.

  8. Yeah, I thought it was funny at the beginning but later, I think why did they have to do this? What is someone cuts your hair so suddenly? For me it is not acceptable. Anyway they apologize.

  10. I really hate this style because it is really stupid when they don't have enough hair to actually put a pony tail. However that was really disrespectful. It's not their hair nor their life.

  11. I thought it was pretty cool. I don't think that they were trying to produce a bunch of hate against manbuns, but that they were trying to make a good video. To be honest, I don't see why this manbun trend seems attractive to people. It's like those ugly shoulder pads from the 80's. (No offense, Mom.)

  17. Well obviously these are two people who do not have enough cats and broccoli around their house for entertainment so they feel the need to bother other people. Even though I do hate man buns or knots, he should think about cutting his moustache off. Im sorry that you had to read through boring comment on Sunday Mister, but you don't always get what you want, so be thankful for this now.

  18. Well, though I strongly believe that this video and prank are wrong, I am highly disappointed that it was all fake. This just shows that a bunch of the prank videos that we thought were real might actually be scripted and that just takes away the whole point of pulling a prank. Oh well, at least they apologised.
