Mazariegos Junior?

So Loosle showed me this entertaining video of some Russian kid directing a choir, and he immediately reminded me of the cello teacher, Mazariegos. It's just the way he moves and he's so into it. Anyway, we started talking about how it looked so natural to him and how much creativity this little kid must have had to just start doing something like this. Unfortunately, I don't think that the creativity we possess as kids stays with us as we grow up. When going through elementary and high school, we are taught to act a certain way. Many people call it discipline, but for me it's a failed attempt at disciplining once you restrict someone from their imagination and creativity. Once you tell someone how to start thinking, that's when you know you're doing it wrong.

Do you guys feel the same way about creativity once it comes down to already being grown up? Do you think that we lose some of our creativity once school becomes a little more important? Or maybe we just don't find it necessary to do whatever comes to mind anymore. It could be either, I guess. Just let me know what you guys think!

  1. I must say: I was always that kid. Like you said, I do agree that we lose the level of creativity we once had as little kids. In exchange, we gain knowledge. I guess that being creative with a blank canvas is easier than one that already has something in it because you can't help but shape your creativity along that frame, which is more difficult.

  2. Well that was adorable! With Mazariegos I feel like laughing, because only he understands what he's doing, but this kid really looks like he enjoys the music. You understand his movements, but with Mazariegos, it feels like he's following some type of standards and is trying to finish his job as fast as possible to get payed immediatly. This kid obviously doesn't get payed, and nobody is paying attention to him.

  3. This was adorable! I think it's so cute that he's in his own world just enjoying the music and feel of it. I have to completely agree that he looked exactly like Mazariegos. Maybe this kid will grow up to be a conductor! That would be pretty cool. I'm glad the person who saw this boy decided to film him. :)

  4. This is solo hilarious! Everybody seems in pain when singing this song except him.He is enjoying it so muchhh its like if waves were taking him and when the music stops he starts being his own normal childish self.

  5. That was so cute. that little kid seemed so into the music. He certainly did look like Mazariegos. That kid will most likely grow up and do something that has to do with music.

  6. Hahahaha! This video was incredibly funny, it looked like Profe Mazariegos, but more importantly, it was how this infant acted in the choir. Who knows, he might be a future Russian musician or something along those lines. Aside from that, with the text included on the blog post, I agree with you. I do believe that sometimes school doesn't allow us to be creative, yet I know that it covers other essential aspects of our lives.

  7. I really found this video entertaining! I was literally laughing the whole video. So anyway, I definitely thought of Professor Mazariegos while the kid was doing these hand gestures because the cello teacher really does make similar gestures while leading general practice during orchestra. I believe that creativity does get diminished once we get older. It's just another argument we can make about school killing creativity.

  8. What an adorable little boy! I find it so sweet that lost himself in the conducting. That was precious!

Like you said, I do think that furthering creativity for students is somewhat neglected in the school realm. That reminds me of a speech that Toni and Sebastian gave today about how in society, it is taught that school should be a time for you do get good grades in high-school and graduate, go on to college and graduate, and then you'll be successful in the workforce. In their speech, they talked about how it is important that schools should realize they are doing this and perhaps change their ways of teaching so that students can feel more creative and enthused about their futures. It's all very interesting.

  9. The little boy is Professor Mazariegos junior. The Professor gets so into it in the programs. In the program, I try not to look at him so much because I get distracted by how he gets so into the conducting. The little was so cute! He must have really liked the song to want to act like he is conducting it.

  10. This is way to cute! I think that when he grows up he is going to be the best conductor of the whole world! This kid is so cute and how he directs is way to cute, I would love to have a director like this! The class would be way funner.

  11. That is the cutest thing I have ever seen! That kid was really good, I wonder if he was copying a conductor or just doing what he felt right. I really think that one reason we stop being so creative is because of school, not just discipline but also peer pressure. How many of us, even if we felt really strongly about the music would get up and do that, even if it was allowed?

  12. This child inspires me. I don't even know if that's a boy or a girl but I can only hope that my future children are all blessed with at least an ounce of the awesomeness of that kid. I bet he even wipes his own butt.

  13. This video is so funny and cute! Your comparison with Mazariegos is perfect. Both of them are so into directing and you can tell that they are having fun. It's funny and entertaining to watch them.
About creativity, you are right. As kids grow older, they are constantly told what to do and how to do it. This kills their imagination as they are not allowed to come up with their own solutions.

  14. You have to commend this child. He has more enthusiasm than all of us in orchestra combined. I smell some serious potential. I wonder who taught him how to do that.

  15. What a cool kid! I think he is really into the music. The music inspired him a lot that his movements are very natural. I agree that as we get older our creativity starts to reduce because we learn about how we should act in certain situations. But I feel like we did not lose all of our creativity.

  16. This Kid, is amazing haha. To think that people have hidden talents like this kid with music, people or school are to enforce this. They don't let us express ourselves or, even doesn't let us be creative just as Roberto said. I agree with all you too.

  17. Although I do agree with the fact that as we grow up we lose our imagination, I still believe that you can still have some imagination and creativity left even as an adult. Although it would obviously not be like the creativity of a child. but in order to fit in society we must lose some of that creativity.

  18. This baby is so adorable and talented. I heard that the baby's grandpa was the director of the choir, and he was pretending his grandpa. Even though he is imitating his grandpa, his facial expression and movement of his hands are so elegant; he might be talented.
