Does music keep getting worst?

What happened to our generation? Why has the music turned so crappy theses days? Oh I know why, people want to make money instead of producing and constructing actual music. Artists don’t care about the lyrics anymore their aim is to sell. They join together words that don’t actually make sense and just put them together because they rhythm. What happened to people who used music for an expression and for the profundity of the words they sang, for a benevolent purpose? The 90´s was a much better era than this one they had truly good musician such as Nirvana, The pixies, and daft punk. These days we have lady gaga and among others. Why do we listen to theses types of music maybe because nobody has taught us what good music is and trust me these lyrics are just rhymed based such as the famous song “just dance”. I have also noticed that music keeps getting worst each time even really good musician turned out with a song that is not the music they used to make. For example look at Maroon 5 and Coldplay their music is not the same  the have gone downhill instead of up hill. Do you
agree or disagree?

  2. I agree Sofia! So much of the music now-a-days is just awful. The messages that are portrayed are just terrible. Like you said, some songs just have pointless words. Others have terrible underlying messages that shouldn't be popular. However, at the same time, there are still incredible artists today. I'll just stick to those artists I like and avoid all of the other terrible stuff that's on the radio. :/

  3. I disagree with what you wrote. You maybe think that the music we have now is crappy, because you like songs from the 80's or 90'. I actually like the music they are doing now, because there are plenty of songs. And also if bands do not make profit out of their music, they will be poor.

  4. I agree! I hate listening to the radio for this exact reason. Honestly, the majority of the music that is popular these days makes me speechless. I don't see any appeal in it. I agree that there isn't much soul or feeling behind most of the popular music today. It's really a shame. I hope that this will be able to change though!

    1. However, I do think that there are still plenty of artists that have so much potential and should continue to make their music even if other artists are portraying terrible messages. :) Like Lacey said, I'll stick to the ones I love. :)

  6. I love Maroon 5, they are my favorite band, but unfortunately I do have to agree with you Sofia. Music is getting worse and I am sad that I am getting bored of some of Maroon 5's songs. Though, some of their songs, like This Love and Makes Me Wonder, never get old for me! I guess it's because they are one of their older songs. I just hope Maroon 5 doesn't go too far down hill or else they will just be a memory from my teenage-hood.

  7. Sometimes i wonder if its really them who actually writes the songs. its seems when they were starting out they wrote songs that held meaning for them. Now a days its a struggle to sell albums so their managers go to desperate measures to ensure that they get their salary. Hence the crappy music. They are working not enjoying the music like they used to.

  8. I see what you mean about musicians only making music for money, but they do need money, partly for living expenses and also so they can buy better instruments and stuff like that. I think the reason people say music from the 80's is better because people only remember the good songs. Of course awful music was made in the 80's too, but because it was awful it faded from peoples memories faster than good 80's music did. Though I have to admit that music nowadays is pretty bad, and I do listen to oldies more than modern music because I find it better. Sadly the only way to get people to stop making bad music is by boycotting them, but unless thousands of people did that nothing would change.

  9. I undoubtedly, agree, Sofia! The best example that you could of used is dubstep! It's not even music! It's just a ton of noise processed through a computer! I consider it a mystery how Skrillex came to fame. Not to mention that most songs these days take the same phrases and repeat them over and over again and pass that off as lyrics! The music of the 20th Century was WAY better than this crap!

  10. I really think you are right Sophie! Recently, most artist only care about the money and not about the quality or message of their music. I was talking to my orchestra teacher the other day and he said that lately, it's not even music they play. Most of the music now comes from a computer and it repeats itself throughout the song. You should make music Sophie! Show the artist what IS music.

  12. I agree with you, music is getting weird, just look at miley cirus she is now rapping, what is wrong with her she used to do pop music, and now she starts to rap. I think they should go back to the old days and start making better music.

  13. Yes Maroon 5 went down hill after Songs About Jane. Coldplay always sucked. The thing is, they play the music on the radio for the kind of people who still listen to the radio. The majority of the population uses their ipod and such. Also Daft Punk is still around, The Pixies came out with a new album earlier this year or last year... Good music is still around. It hasn't changed. I'm sure way back when all the stuff considered popular was only liked by a small percent of the population and tolerated by the rest. Sometimes we need crappy meaningless pop too. It's fun. So don't go off on music getting worse, because it's just changing. It's always changing. If it were to stay the same we'd all be bored and people like you wouldn't have anything to complain about.

  14. I agree with you sofi, music has been getting worse lately, but it's only some music. There is still good music around, like other people have said before. It just depends on what you like. I mean, we all have different tastes in everything, not only music. Arturo mentioned dubstep and I agree with him. I don't like dubstep because it only gives me a headache, but I do have friends that like it. I don't understand that, but I respect it because they don't like the music I like. I guess that what I'm trying to say is that music is getting worse only for some people because they have different tastes to what is now popular.

  15. I know! Now, I don't really like nowadays musics, but old musics from when I wasn't even born when the music came out. Now I see that the purpose of music artists has changed from sharing or expressing emotions to earn money. Anyway, that doesn't include every musicians, I hope some musicians still follow their faith of what is real music to them.

  16. I must agree, with a couple exceptions of the music that I like and doesn't put together random words. But yes I think music has really de-evolved. I listen to music that my parents like, and my sister music, it really old but it sounds better then the music nowadays.

  17. I agree with you Sofia, but not all music is bad. There is still amazing singers that keep the music going. I love Maroon 5, but these songs are not that good. I hope that those good singers bloom, and show the world what real music is.

  18. i agree. the song blurred lines is about date rape! I mean how sick of a society have we become that we are singing songs with sexual assault in them! the song is good, it has a really good rhythm, but the meaning to the lyrics is just wrong, morally wrong. and i agree songs are getting worse and stupid! great rhythms but i mean come up with something that wont offend women, and men!
